Pumpkin Patch...

September 30, 2009

There is a definite chill in the air - I think Old Man Winter is on his way. So, we decided we'd better bring in the pumpkins from our little pumpkin patch. They were a little disappointing this year - we loved our pumpkins last year, they were huge and perfect for carving and pretty tasty for pumpkin pies! These were a different variety and aren't quite like last years - we still got quite a few, but alot of them are oblong shaped and they didn't get nearly as big. So next year we will get the seeds we got last year and try them again. All the boys usually help bring in the pumpkins but Bryson and Dillon were watching a movie and it was a bit chilly and it had started to rain, but that didn't stop Logan - he wanted to be right there helping his Dad - he grabbed his work gloves, coat and flip flops and headed out. He helped load the pumpkins into his Gator and then drove them to the garage and helped unload them. It was so cute!

Dad finding pumpkins just his size to carry to the Gator.

Loadin' em up.

Having a great time!

Drivin' the load in.

Unloading the pumpkins.

And it starts all over...

He made 3 loads...

And then wanted to help with his wheel barrow like Dad. TOO CUTE!! :)

Bryson took this picture - it was taken right after dinner so yes, that is lasagna all over Logan's face. Cute little Mason.

I think little Maser is getting a tooth. He has been drooling like crazy and trying to bite down on anything he can get his little hands on and put into his mouth.

Grandma said she had some work for the boys yesterday - their cousins were there too. Raking leaves... they were making a game out of it. Even though it was work - it was playing to them. Ah... to be little again. :) For these last 2 days when I have had my camera Dillon is no where in sight - silly boy, I will have to hunt him down next time and get some pictures. :)

Cute kids - Rachel, Bryson and Sierra.

1 Year...

Wow! Today is the 1 year anniversary of my blog! It's funny - at first I didn't want to start into something like this but it's been kind of fun and I can use it like a journal of our family (because I'm terrible at keeping one of those :) ). I guess I mostly post about my family and haven't mentioned much about myself - so on this post I will mention 5 of my favorite things.

1. I love the holidays - especially Halloween & Christmas - love the decorations, traditions, foods and colors.
2. I love shopping - except not for groceries (as was previously mentioned) :).
3. I love to relax and watch a good movie with my husband, popcorn and a glass of ice cold water.
4. I love the smell of fresh dug potatoes and the cellar - don't know why - have ever since I was a little girl and worked in the harvest.
5. I love pretty much all things vintage - it's like they have a story to tell.

Bryson's Wolf Badge and Another FUN Pack Night...

Last Thursday night we had another Pack Meeting. It was Down On the Farm Fun - we roped steers, carried eggs, milked cows, bobbed for apples, had gunny sack races and went on a hayride. We had a relay race - our "cows" were gloves (blue in fact :) ) filled with water and we poked holes in them and "milked" them into a cup. Then they ran with an egg on a spoon down to the gunny sacks - hopped in the gunny sacks to the apple bobbing - then ran to the ropin' steer (our steer was a dummy steer with a real lariat). The boys had so much FUN. Then we loaded up with doughnuts and cider and went on the hayride. I think I had as much fun as the kids!! It was such a nice night. We sang some funny songs while on the hayride. When we got back we all didn't want to leave it was so much fun. What a fun way to welcome in Fall!! I LoVe Fall! It is my favorite time of year. I love the crispness in the air, the leaves, pumpkins - oh just about anything that has to do with fall! Love it! Love it! We're going to break out the Halloween decorations this weekend! Can't wait! :)

Along with turning 9 years old, Bryson also got to advance to the Bears Den from the Wolf Den. He earned his Wolf Badge and a gold arrow point and 3 silver arrow points (the first 10 electives are for a gold arrow point and then any 10 after that are for silver arrow points - so he did 40 electives!). It doesn't look like it in this picture but he has been so excited about cub scouts and that is what keeps him going. Good job buddy!

I have to apologize for the pictures - the ones above were taken by someone who wasn't used to our camera and they had changed the settings to take the above pictures, so when I started taking pictures again I didn't realize it until I had taken about 25 pictures - they were mostly all blurry - oh well, a few turned out.

I finally figured out that the camera was on a different setting but by now it was getting dark and the camera was having a hard time focusing.

Like I said, these pictures didn't turn out the best but we had a hootin' and hollerin' good time anyways!! :)

Bryson's Party...

Wow! What a busy weekend! Bryson's birthday was on Thursday and then his party was on Friday and Spud Day was on Saturday. It was alot of FUN but I think I am getting old - I am worn out! :)

I always ask them what kind of party they would like to do because they have a little party with their cousins that live around here. This year Bryson said he wanted a carnival party. OK... well, birthdays are kind of a big deal for me because I want the boys to remember them. So, we got a little creative with cardboard boxes, some spray paint, duct tape, and some other odds and ends and this is what we came up with. There were 10 booths - the first booth was face painting, sucker pull, the Amazing Mystery Box, and the Magic Bean Bottle Guess. Then we had Ball Blaster, Sock Bowling, Baseball Throw, Target Shooting, Penny Pitch, Dart Throw, Bucket Ball Drop, and Ring Toss.

Face Painting - my sister-in-law did face painting on the kids. So cute - thanks Jen!

Grandma Gardner helping with the sucker pull and taking tickets.

David doing Balloon Animals - thanks honey! He took a crash course in animal balloon making. :)

Logan had to have John Deere on his cheek - loves John Deere.

My neighbor offered to help with the party (thank you so much Sadie!! :) ) and this is one of her boys doing the baseball throw - seeing how many cans you can knock over - way to go Karter!

Jake playing the Ball Blaster - Bryson actually made this game for one of his requirements in Cub Scouts. It's alot of fun (and hard too!)!

Jake getting really close up to take a shot - too funny!

Thanks Shell & Jason for all your help!!

Sierra writing down what she thinks is in the Amazing Mystery Box.

Bryson doing the Magic Bean Bottle Guess.

Tyler doing the ring toss.

Jordyn with Supergirl symbol on her cheek.

Grandpa Mike being the Corn Dog and Popcorn vendor.

Cute Kylie.

Jaislyn chowing down on some popcorn and a big bite of corn dog - so cute!

Our awesome magician doing his Magic Show - it was a hit!! Thanks again Jase.

Trevor eating a swirl pop!

Rachel trying out her glasses and clown nose - too funny!

Sierra - silly girl!

Ty with glasses for the boys - they were so funny, you could wind them up and the eyebrows and mustache would move up and down. Here he is lifting the mustache up so he can eat some of his cotton candy! Too funny!

Kylie by the Ticket Booth.

Grandma Lynda getting in on the action - my awesome friend painted this lion and ringmaster! It turned out so cute- she is so talented - thanks Mindy!!

Well - I hope you had a good birthday Buddy! Love you!
